Volunteering opportunities

Assist visitors to learn about the National Bonsai and Penjing Collection of Australia.

Regular maintenance working bees occur bi-weekly.

Be involved with tree monitoring, Frogwatch, bird surveys or site history.
Harvesting Friends
Manage harvesting at the Arboretum and develop products e.g. jams to be sold at the Arboretum shop.
Event volunteering
Help with events like the Arboretum's Community Festival, Australian National Botanic Garden's Day, school holiday and seasonal events
Warm Trees
More than 200 knitters provide knitting for our annual winter art installation on display during July/August.

How do I make sure I am a financial member?
If you purchase your membership via our website, you'll receive an email confirmation of your membership. Nearing the expiry of your membership, you'll receive a reminder via email from the Friends'. If you need to find out any details of your membership including expiry date, or to change any of your personal details we have on record, please contact us.
What membership options are available?
Single, Household, and Concession. Please note Concession membership is for Pensioners, Health Card carriers and Full-time students, and is not available to Senior Card holders.
How do Friends parking passes work?
A Parking Pass is available to purchase via our website and is only availablt to current members. Once purchased, we will send you a Parking Pass which is for one vehicle only and must only be displayed in the vehicle having the registration number displayed on the card. Please read the instructions on the reverse of the card. The Friends' produce these Parking Passes on behalf of the ACT Government. All revenue from Parking Passes is transfered directly to the National Arboretum to fund projects.
